Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (Monday-Friday | 2:30pm-7:30pm)

POSITION SUMMARY

The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) will assist clients in the Doors of Hope program by helping to solve a variety of life-skill challenges, specifically relating to recovery from substance abuse. This position will require facilitating recovery classes, groups and individual meetings, as well as setting individualized goals and objectives to help clients with substance abuse disorders avoid relapse and build life skills.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Certified Peer Recovery Specialists will work in close connection with clients and the Doors of Hope staff members to ensure the safety and forward progress of Doors of Hope treatment Center and Program clients. CPRS will meet with clients on a regular basis and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Establish and maintain a peer relationship rather than a hierarchical relationship with clients
  • Conduct intakes and new client orientations as it pertains to recovery
  • Meet with clients on a regular basis and document encounters
  • Monitor client progress, document and shares notes with team members
  • Schedule and conduct random drug/alcohol screenings
  • Assist in providing education and motivation for clients successful step-work/recovery work through recovery led groups and/or individual encounters
  • Teach, model, and coach clients in recovery skills needed to maintain a healthy life in recovery (employment, housing, self-care, relationships)
  • Teach, model and coach clients in skills needed for self-management of SUD/mental health symptoms and prevention of relapse
  • Share unique perspective on recovery from mental illness or SUD by sharing from personal experience, strength and hope, when appropriate
  • Assist in identifying triggers and ways to cope with triggers/urges
  • Assist in setting goals and developing a personal relapse prevention/recovery plan.
  • Provide accountability/coaching for clients, relating to step-work, obtaining a sponsor, attending meetings, assignments, service work, etc.
  • Meet with Clinical Supervisor and Recovery Team weekly
  • Assist with client corrective action plan, as needed
  • Provide recovery-related programming/classes to clients
  • Assist clients in completing an Autopsy of Relapse, as needed
  • Perform other tasks relating to clients recovery program, as needed
  • Participate in continued education classes and supervision as required to maintain certification

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Maintained minimum of three years of sobriety in recovery
  • Certified as a Peer Recovery Specialist; Documentation required
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist
  • Must have AA/NA 12 Step experience

 

OTHER SKILLS

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding of a variety of 12-Step/Recovery programs
  • Ability to document encounters with clients in a professional manner
  • Ability to respectfully engage with diverse populations
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work independently
  • Must comply with drug-free workplace guidelines

Client Care Professional

POSITION SUMMARY

The Client Care Professional will assist clients in the Doors of Hope Program by helping to solve a variety of life-skill challenges, specifically relating to recovery from substance abuse. This position will require assisting the Certified Peer Recovery Specialist in client services and maintaining the safety and day to day tasks of the facility.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Care Professional will work in close connection to the CPRS and under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director. Client Care Professionals ensure the safety and forward progress of Doors of Hope clients. Client Care Professionals will interact with clients on a regular basis and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Welcomes new patients and/or family members to campus, assisting with orientation to the campus and program as directed;
  • Assists with community groups, in-house and outside 12 step meetings, and 12 step discussion/study groups as assigned.
  • Monitors patients, including making rounds and bed checks as assigned, assisting to create a safe treatment environment;
  • Transports patients to 12 Step meetings and/or other therapeutic recreation activities as assigned, operating company vehicles within the guidelines, as well as monitoring patients for safety;
  • Assists Activities Services staff members with recreation, art, music, and adventure based therapies as assigned;
  • Utilizing Handle with Care, de-escalates potential and actual crisis situations as needed;
  • Performs CPR and First Aid as needed;
  • Performs shift assignments that include maintaining the cleanliness of the facility.
  • Participates in team meetings, treatment plan reviews, staff meetings, and quality management activities as assigned;
  • Assists in managing patient community as a therapeutic milieu, holding patients accountable for behavior consistent with community guidelines and recovery, consulting with clinical staff as needed;
  • Documents pertinent information into the electronic patient record.
  • Recommends ways to improve the quality and delivery of services.
  • Maintains confidentiality of company and patient information.
  • Reacts productively to change.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • High School or equivalent
  • Maintained minimum of a year of sobriety in recovery
  • Certified in CPR/First Aid
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
