My name is Camilla. I am 28 years old with a wonderful husband and our first child on the way. I have had an enormous amount of blessings in my life as I have learned to become a productive citizen. This has been made possible through Jesus Christ, my Savior, and the life-changing programs of Doors of Hope.
When I first entered into Doors of Hope I was embraced with loving people who saw me for who I could become.
I came from a life of addiction and my life had become unmanageable. The crimes I committed caught up with me and I found myself incarcerated. During that time I realized I had hit my rock bottom and I needed help from outside myself to give me the tools I needed to live in the world sober and free from addictions. I worked with Doors of Hope and decided to make the next step to commit to the program. Doors of Hope supported me as I went to two courthouses and was able to get my fines reduced. The volunteers made it possible for me to hold a job as they transported me to and from work. My life coach helped me set up budgeting plans and eventually I received my license.
Through all of this, my confidence grew tremendously and I started to see myself as a different person.
I didn’t see myself as an addict or a criminal.
I saw myself as a strong willed, loving person that could do anything I set my mind to. I never felt judgement, which was something I had always felt from the world and even some family and friends. I only felt love from Doors of Hope. That love gave me the strength and motivation to grow in my life. I found the worth in myself to know that I deserve happiness and that I am worthy of a great man and I CAN be a wonderful mother.
I have a huge place in my heart for Doors of Hope and all the time and hard work that was sacrificed to help me get on a successful road in life. I am now 4 years clean and sober thanks to the love and support of DOH and my family.
