Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Doors of Hope’s Intensive Outpatient Program is designed specifically for women seeking support with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health needs. Our program provides accessible, affordable, and flexible care that helps you strengthen your recovery without disrupting your daily responsibilities

Healing, Stability, and the Tools to Rebuild.

Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) creates a safe and grounding space just for women, where clients can speak openly, build trust, and engage in healing without fear of judgment.

  • Trauma-informed therapy shifts the focus from “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?” It recognizes how past experiences shape current challenges, especially for women navigating substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions.

In our IOP, this means creating a safe, supportive environment. We focus on helping women understand how trauma influences triggers, emotions, and recovery patterns while teaching practical skills to build stability and prevent relapse.

This approach helps women move from survival to healing, with support that honors their lived experiences and strengthens long-term resilience.

  • At Doors of Hope, our treatment approach is grounded in compassion, respect, and the understanding that every woman’s journey is unique. We combine evidence-based practices with trauma-responsive care to meet each client exactly where she is.

Our team works alongside women to build coping skills, strengthen recovery, and support emotional well-being. We focus on creating a safe, empowering space where clients can heal at their own pace, reconnect with their strengths, and build a foundation for long-term stability and growth.

  • Our Intensive Outpatient Program is designed to support women navigating substance use disorders and the co-occurring disorders that often accompany it.

Co-occurring disorders, sometimes called dual diagnosis, occur when someone is working through both a substance use disorder and mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, or PTSD. These conditions can influence each other, making recovery more complex. That’s why our approach supports both areas together. This helps our clients understand their symptoms, build coping skills, and move toward stability and long-term healing.

    Co-occurring disorders we treat:

    • Anxiety disorders

    • Mood disorders: major depression, bipolar disorder

    • Trauma-related symptoms

    • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

    • Personality disorders: antisocial personality disorder, borderline personality disorder

    Substance use disorders we treat

    • Alcohol use disorder

    • Opioid use disorder (heroin, prescription opioids, fentanyl)

    • Stimulant use disorder (methamphetamine, cocaine)

    • Cannabis use disorder

    • Sedative or anxiolytic use disorder (benzodiazepines such as Xanax, Klonopin, Ativan)

    • Polysubstance use (using more than one substance at a time)

Our approach helps women build recovery skills, strengthen emotional stability, and create a healthier foundation for long-term healing and growth.

  • We use a blend of evidence-based and trauma-responsive approaches to support every woman’s unique path to recovery. By combining therapies like CBT, DBT skills, Motivational Interviewing, Seeking Safety, relapse-prevention strategies, and 12-Step support, we create a well-rounded treatment experience that meets clients where they are. This integrated approach allows us to address substance use, co-occurring mental health needs, and real-life challenges in a way that feels supportive, practical, and personalized.

  • Intensive Outpatient Programming offers the structure and support of treatment while allowing women to stay connected to their families, work, and daily responsibilities. IOP is an ideal option for those who need more than weekly therapy but do not require residential care. It provides a consistent routine, a safe therapeutic community, and evidence-informed tools to manage cravings, stabilize emotions, and strengthen long-term recovery.

For many women, IOP offers the perfect balance between helping them rebuild confidence, stability, and a healthier path forward.

  • We understand that many women delay or avoid treatment because of childcare challenges or the fear of being separated from their children. At Doors of Hope, we honor the role of motherhood and recognize the strength it takes to seek help while caring for a family. Our IOP is designed with flexibility and support in mind, helping mothers build coping skills, strengthen recovery, and manage stress while still tending to their children’s needs.

We create a welcoming, judgment-free space where moms can focus on their healing without feeling like they have to choose between recovery and their children.
